PSP/Vita – Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom (2012) Review

Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom belongs to a game genre that I haven’t played in ages since way back on the Sega Saturn.  To say that I am shocked that Aksys Games would port it to the now dead Sony PSP would be an understatement yet I am thankful that corporate bigwigs took a chance as it is one of the better genre titles I have played.  Simply put, Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom is an “otome” style Japanese visual novel game that is basically akin to a choose your own adventure book that was popular a few decades ago.  The big difference here is that in “otome” games that the player takes on the role of a female protagonist as she navigates through the plot while attempting to hook up with any, or none, of the male supporting cast.
