Breaking – Roberto Orci Not Writing Star Trek 3 (2016)

This is a story that keeps on giving so once again we’ve got news via other sources that Roberto Orci, the original director and screenwriter of Star Trek 3 (2016) who, vacated the captain’s chair a few weeks ago, also has apparently left the writing process as well. About the only hat he has left, though it is still a big one, is being one of the film’s producers.

Breaking – New Director to take over Star Trek 3 (2016)

I was too lazy to report a few weeks ago that Bob Orci had left the director’s chair for the upcoming Star Trek 3 due to unknown circumstances.  Since then Hollywood has been abuzz as to who would be his replacement with names such as Duncan Jones and Rupert Wyatt bandied about.  Now, according to Deadline and other websites it looks as if Paramount has found their man.

Much like my ten episode review of the new Space Battleship Yamato 2199 I ended up overcompensating by taking far too many screencaps for my Star Trek Into Darkness Post-Mortem Editorial than I could ever use so I decided to just post them here so that they don’t go to waste.  In this case, I had purchased the Into Darkness 3D Blu-Ray which comes with a free digital download from either Ultraviolet or iTunes.  I decided on the latter which ended up being the source I used to take these caps.

Editorial: Star Trek Into Darkness Post-mortem

With the Summer movie season now in the history books it’s time to look back specifically at Star Trek Into Darkness to grade the movie’s box office performance and to see if we can ascertain any hints about the franchise’s future.  Let’s be honest shall we?  The past few weeks have seen Into Darkness’ reputation basically being dragged through the mud by the mainstream media but not without some degree of merit as news broke out of two Star Trek conventions that diehard Trekkies were not only mad but downright furious deciding to vote the film the worse Star Trek film ever in one poll while the other had it wallowing in 6th position.  Is it really the time for revisionist history to kick in?

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) Digitally Available

Many have asked me why I have not updated the box office numbers for Star Trek Into Darkness and done a more in-depth analysis of the results but I’ve been waiting for the final box office tallies from International markets to write my report.  As most will know the movie is now available to purchase through numerous digital services here in Canada/USA such as ITunes or through the Xbox while the physical Blu-Ray and DVD discs are due to be released on September 10.
