Galactic Pillow Update Feb 9 (2013)

We’re only a few weeks away from the Academy Awards on February 24 so I thought I’d do something I haven’t done in a long time which is to review as many Best Picture nominees as possible.  Admittedly, if this were a few years ago before they switched to up to ten candidates it would have been infinitely easier to complete.  I don’t think I can review all nine of the Best Picture nominees but I’ll definitely try to get at least half done.

Update: Galactic Pillow May 2012

After nearly two months of non-stop Mass Effect coverage it is about time this blog went back to its regular programming.  While I am sure that there will be a lot more to be said about Bioware’s final installment in Commander Shepard’s story the next period of great interest will be when the extended ending director’s cut will be released sometime in the summer.  Judging from the overall persistent negativity from some fans I really have my doubts whether or not many will be swayed by this new ending even though as of this writing I have really no clue what Bioware is going to do except keep their original ending the way it is.

Galactic Pillow – Update

For all my readers please note that I have begun the process of merging my past articles from other blogs, websites and magazines into this site and as such you can expect more updates as I begin to upload them in chronological order.  This means that you are going to have to check the archives by using the pull down menus to access this legacy content or else use the search engine. Conversely, you can check the Twitter feed on the right side of the blog to see any “new” posts no matter the chronological date.

A New Frontier

Well, after much cajoling, my wife has finally convinced me to start up a new Internet endeavor. Suffice it to say, instead of doing my usual regular web designs I’ve decided to do the trendy thing and start up a blog. As for what it is that this blog will be about, the quick answer would be – I have no idea! Actually, that’s a bit of a misnomer since I have some clue as to which topics I would like to expound on but for now let’s just say that it is going to be a mish-mash, hodgepodge of topics ranging the entire gamut from entertainment (movies, video games) to politics (OBAMA!) to what I ate last weekend for dinner. I just KNOW you really need to discover exactly what I stuffed into my stomach!

Since this is my first post in my brand spanking new blog I might as well begin with the obvious — Star Trek and more importantly, WTH is the Galactic Pillow? I won’t get into the grand concept of the Galactic Pillow today (it would take too long to explain) but I will speak a bit about Gene Roddenberry’s creation.

Like tears in rain…

* This is the first post I ever wrote in WordPress back on my very old site but I’ve posted it here for historical reasons *

I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Perhaps one of the greatest scenes in cinema history perfect in tone and execution unfolds before the viewer after over 100 minutes of pure visual bombardment punctuated with extreme bouts of violence all coming to an end not with a bang but with a somber moment of tranquility.

Cinephiles will undoubtedly know which film this quote comes from but although I’m known to write movie reviews from time to time this line of dialogue is going to serve a much different purpose here as a jumping off point for this blog.
