The girls are now young women but fear not as the well-worn pair of pants is back in this sequel to 2005’s hit movie. Soap opera plot lines with a high degree of melodrama make their return again but all this is to be expected. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 might not feel as fresh nor as engaging as the original film but the genuine chemistry between the four leads is still on display and that’s just enough to propel the movie past it’s somewhat prosaic narrative. I clearly remember my review of the original installment calling it a welcomed alternative to the glossy yet exceedingly shallow Sex and The City and this still applies to the sequel. Young impressionable girls should make a date to watch this series instead of the vapid and rampant commercialism usually found in modern chick flicks all seemingly based on the singular aspect of looking good in various Chanel outfits.
