Movie Review – 88 Minutes (2007)

Al Pacino is widely regarded as one of America’s leading actors but with his new thriller 88 Minutes one can’t help get the impression that he’s slumming…big time. For all his considerable range and skill Pacino slips into his de facto screen persona playing a grizzled well-travelled anti-social curmudgeon who has to solve a complex series of clues to prevent his own murder. As high concepts go, this film certainly drips potential but the setup becomes a mere gimmick and soon the entire movie collapses into a quivering pile of plot inconsistencies, laughable set pieces and horrible logic.
